Terms and Conditions

Version: 2026-10-16.1
Effective date: October 16, 2026
Last updated: October 16, 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of Baby Unlocked, including its mobile application, related services, and website (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Chase Ricketts (“Baby Unlocked,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating or joining a family, or using shared-service features, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Beta service

Baby Unlocked is a free, invite-only beta service for adults in the United States. The Service is still being tested and may change, contain errors, be unavailable, or be discontinued at any time.

We may limit, suspend, or end beta access when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, or wind down the Service. We do not guarantee that any feature, data, or beta access will remain available.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement to use the Service. The Service is intended for parents, guardians, and other adult caregivers—not for use by children.

You may add information about a child only when you have authority to do so. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in email and verification codes secure and for activity through your account.

3. Shared family information

The Service lets you share a family space with invited caregivers. When you invite or join another caregiver, shared family information and activities may be visible to the other members of that family space and may sync to their signed-in devices.

Only invite people you trust and are authorized to share the information with. You are responsible for your invitations and for confirming that the information you add or share is appropriate.

4. Not medical advice or an emergency service

Baby Unlocked records caregiver-entered information and may display neutral summaries or references. It is not medical advice, medical care, diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional.

Do not rely on the Service for emergencies or urgent decisions. If you believe a child may be experiencing an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number. For medical concerns, contact a qualified healthcare professional.

5. Your information

You retain your rights in the information you submit to the Service. You give us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, synchronize, and display that information only as needed to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Service for you and the people with whom you choose to share it.

Do not submit information that you do not have the right to use or share. If you import information from another service, you are responsible for ensuring that you may do so.

Primary Caregivers may export the family care data saved on their device as a CSV. Only export information you are authorized to save or share, and choose recipients carefully. The export may include sensitive child and health information and saved local changes, but may omit changes not yet received from other devices. It is a care-data snapshot, not a complete account-access response or a guarantee of future import support. Apps, services, and recipients you choose handle exported copies under their own practices. Deleting information, a family, or an account from Baby Unlocked does not delete copies saved or sent elsewhere.

Our collection, use, sharing, security, retention, and deletion practices are described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Deletion and access

The beta includes self-service controls to leave a family, delete your account, and, for any Primary Caregiver, permanently delete shared family information and activities. Before confirming deletion, the Service will explain the information affected, whether the action is shared with other caregivers, and whether it can be undone.

Multiple Primary Caregivers share equal authority. Relationship labels do not grant access. Personal account deletion preserves shared family information. A retained family needs at least one active Primary Caregiver; the last one must establish another before leaving or separately confirm family deletion. Family deletion leaves the personal account intact.

After an online, confirmed deletion is processed, the affected account and family information are deleted from the live cloud service and Baby Unlocked information is cleared from the requesting device. Temporary CSV export copies follow the Privacy Policy’s cache-cleanup schedule, including after deletion; copies saved or sent elsewhere remain outside our control. An offline caregiver device may retain a cached shared copy until it reconnects or its app data is cleared, but it cannot restore deleted information. If you cannot access the app, visit our account deletion page. The Privacy Policy describes the deletion process and retention limits.

7. Acceptable use

You may use the Service only for lawful, personal caregiving purposes. You may not:

  • Access another person’s account or family information without authorization.
  • Share invitations, credentials, or verification codes improperly.
  • Interfere with, probe, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Service.
  • Use the Service to violate privacy, intellectual-property, or other legal rights.
  • Use the Service to make clinical, safety, or treatment decisions on behalf of others.

8. Ownership

The Service, including its software, design, text, names, logos, and other content we provide, is owned by Baby Unlocked or its licensors and is protected by applicable law. These Terms give you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service during the beta.

If you send feedback, you allow us to use it without compensation or obligation to you.

9. Privacy and communications

Please read the Privacy Policy before using the Service. It explains how the Service handles account information, family and child information, activities, notes, device-local storage, sync, service providers, and privacy requests.

You agree that we may send operational messages about your account, invitations, security, deletion requests, and material changes to the Service or these Terms.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND SECURITY.

We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from data loss. Keep any separate records you consider important; the Service is not a backup service.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Baby Unlocked and Chase Ricketts will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or loss of goodwill arising from use of the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed $100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

12. Your responsibility for claims

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you will indemnify and hold Baby Unlocked and Chase Ricketts harmless from claims arising from your unlawful use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your unauthorized submission or sharing of information.

13. Ending use

You may stop using the Service at any time and use the in-app deletion controls when available. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create a security or privacy risk, or if we end the beta.

Sections that should reasonably survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions—will survive.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the beta evolves. We will post the updated Terms with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice through the Service or by email when appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms, except where applicable law requires another form of consent.

15. Governing law and disputes

Please contact us first at support@mail.babyunlocked.com so we can try to resolve concerns informally.

These Terms are governed by California law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it must be brought in the state or federal courts located in El Dorado County, California, unless applicable law requires otherwise. You and Baby Unlocked consent to those courts’ jurisdiction.
